Sharon is the
Founder & Chair of Katie's Cradle.
Sharon has spent her life around horses and other animals and has a keen passion for their wellbeing both physically and mentally.
"Animals inspire me to be as authentic as I can be"
Sharon's father was a keen horseman, spending most of his years abroad working on ranches and taking ridden parts in many western films, it was his influence that first attracted Sharon to the world of horses.
"My father had a way with all animals but especially horses; that has been the basis for my insight into these beautiful beings"
After spending her childhood helping out at local riding schools on the island, she went on to work for Strathclyde Mounted Police as a Strapper and then onto Busby Equitation Centre MENCAP before becoming a mother to three beautiful boys.
Sharon has held both Statutory & Third Sector posts over the years, some of which are:
Substance Misuse Worker Covering Child Protection for Argyll & Bute Council.
While in this role, one of Sharon's projects was chosen by The Scottish Executive as "The best diversionary project of the time in Scotland"
The Scottish Domestic Abuse Helpline.
Telephone Counselling Service
A service for families who are suffering from stress with children under the age of five.
The Credit Union.
Money Laundering Officer
Sharon was also instrumental in setting up several groups within the Kintyre area:
SAFE - Substance Abuse Free Environment
Kintyre Drug Forum.
A forum where professionals and community members discussed and implemented Action Plans to combat drug misuse in the local area.
